The effect of October heat is growing day by day in Maharashtra, and people are troubled by the harsh sun. Rain has taken a break in most parts of the state, and the weather is hot and dry. According to the forecast of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), no special weather alert has been issued for most districts of the state for October 12. However, temperatures and humidity are likely to remain high, so people will have to face the sun.

In the Konkan districts of Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, hot and humid weather prevails for now. A yellow alert for heat had earlier been issued for some parts of Konkan, but no special alert is forecast for October 12. The maximum temperature here may be around 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 23 degrees Celsius. Those waiting for rain are therefore unlikely to get relief from the humidity.

Dry weather is forecast mainly in the North Maharashtra districts of Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik. There is no special weather warning here, and the maximum temperature may be around 33 to 34 degrees Celsius. Along with the sting of the sun during the day, humidity may also cause discomfort in some places. People should therefore avoid staying in the sun for long in the afternoon.

The weather is also likely to remain mostly dry in the West Maharashtra districts of Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur and Solapur. There is no special alert for this region, and the maximum temperature is expected to be around 32 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 21 degrees Celsius. With no rain, farmers and ordinary people are watching for a change in the weather. Even so, as per the current forecast, there are no clear signs of heavy rain yet.

Dry weather is likely in the Marathwada districts of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur and Dharashiv. The maximum temperature here may range between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius and the minimum between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius. Even without any special alert, people may have to bear the rising heat. There is continuing concern about conditions in areas already struggling with water scarcity because of the lack of rain.

Weather is also likely to remain mostly dry in the Vidarbha districts of Nagpur, Amravati, Akola, Wardha, Yavatmal, Buldhana, Washim, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli. The effect of heat may be felt for the next four to five days. The maximum temperature here is expected to be around 33 to 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 22 to 23 degrees Celsius.

Overall, on October 12 the talk in Maharashtra is likely to be more about October heat and rising humidity than about rain. People should drink plenty of water, avoid stepping out needlessly in the harsh afternoon sun, and take the necessary precautions against the heat. It is important to keep track of the official IMD updates for the latest weather information.
