Four men have been arrested for a knife attack on a young man in Wanadevinagar, Yashodharanagar, in Nagpur, allegedly to settle an old score.

A youth was attacked with a knife in Nagpur in an alleged act of revenge over an old feud. The accused first called the youth out of his house in Wanadevinagar, Yashodharanagar, took him behind the house and, all four together, beat him brutally. One of the accused stabbed him in the chest. The youth was seriously injured, and the incident caused panic in the area. Police acted swiftly and have arrested all four accused.

The incident took place on October 31. Rupesh Shirke, who lives in Wanadevinagar in Wanjari Purani Basti, under the Yashodharanagar police station limits, had returned home after grazing cattle near the Gulshannagar railway track area. At that time, the accused Mayur Sakhare arrived with three associates. They called Rupesh out of the house and began arguing with him. The four then took him behind the house and began beating him mercilessly with kicks and punches. During the assault, one of the accused pulled out a knife and struck Rupesh in the chest. The sudden attack caused panic in the area.

Hearing Rupesh's screams, local residents rushed to the spot, but by then all four accused had fled. Bloodied, Rupesh was immediately admitted to Aniruddha Hospital at Rani Durgavati Chowk, where he is undergoing treatment.

Police investigation has found that Rupesh and the accused had quarrelled about a month earlier, and the accused carried out the attack to take revenge for that old feud. On receiving the complaint, Yashodharanagar police registered a case under various sections, including attempt to murder, and arrested Aman Sahu, Mayur Sakhare, Rahul Balbudhe and Mohammad Kaleem Mohammad Arif Ansari.
