Savli police have booked a man for allegedly abusing and punching a 62-year-old resident of Khedi village in Chandrapur district, after an X-ray report was received.

A case of assault has come to light in Khedi village, under Savli police station in Chandrapur district. A man was abused and manhandled over an old quarrel. Police have registered a case against one suspect. The action came about ten days after the incident, once the X-ray report was in hand.

According to the information available, the complainant, Dinesh Vitthal Gedam, is 62 and lives in Khedi, Savli tehsil, Chandrapur district. He works as a labourer to run his household. He lives with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.

The complaint states that Vasudev Soma Gawale (55, a resident of Khedi) lives behind Gedam's house. According to the complaint, he is addicted to alcohol and often comes home drunk and hurls abuse. Police have recorded him as the suspect.

According to the complainant's statement, the incident took place at about 7 pm on October 21, 2026. Gedam was returning home from the village square. The suspect, Gawale, was standing on the road near the house. He allegedly came up suddenly, cited an old dispute and said that Gedam had quarrelled with him two months earlier. He then began abusing Gedam.

Gedam objected, saying he had not said anything and asking why he was being abused for no reason. According to the complaint, the suspect flew into a rage and ran at him. He allegedly punched Gedam and pushed him to the ground. Gedam was hurt near the right wrist and on the arm, and began to feel pain.

Gedam went to Savli police station on October 23 and filed a complaint. Police then took him to a government hospital for treatment. Doctors had advised an X-ray of the right wrist.

After the X-ray report came in, Gedam went to the police station again on October 31 and gave a detailed complaint. There was thus a gap of some days between the first complaint and the registration of the case.

On the victim's oral complaint, Savli police have booked the suspect, Vasudev Soma Gawale (resident of Khedi, Savli tehsil), under Sections 352 and 117(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. No arrest has been mentioned.

Police constable Kewal Nimbaji Ture is conducting further investigation into the case.
