Nagpur: Two men have been arrested for a murderous attack on a youth after they were thrown out of a Raas Garba event for drunken abuse. Taking their removal as an insult, the accused first harassed the organiser over the phone and then, on the pretext of talks, called his friend and attacked him with a knife.
The attackers stabbed Atharv Wadi Bhasme (22) two to three times in the chest. The attack caused panic in the 85 Plot area. Ajni police have arrested Tejas Amol Dhege (22) and Altaf Manzoor Alam Ansari (21), both of 85 Plot. The injured man is a resident of Beltarodi.
Krishna Baradia, a resident of 85 Plot, works in event management. A Raas Garba had been organised on a ground near Rudra Bar in Manish Nagar. On the night of October 19, the accused arrived there with two companions. All four were drunk and abusing people. As women and other citizens were present at the event, Baradia instructed the bouncers to remove the accused.
The accused were enraged at being thrown out, and a dispute began with Baradia. After that, Tejas kept calling Baradia repeatedly and quarrelling with him. He felt that being removed from the garba with his friends was an insult and held a grudge over it.
Instead of ending the dispute, the accused chose violence. On the night of October 19, Tejas called Baradia and his friend Atharv Wadi Bhasme to the Sheetla Mata temple at 85 Plot for talks. As soon as the two arrived, the accused attacked Atharv with a knife, stabbing him two to three times in the chest and leaving him bleeding. The sudden attack caused an uproar in the area.
Atharv, seriously injured, was rushed to the Medical hospital. Ajni police have registered a case of attempt to murder and begun an investigation. Tejas Dhege and Altaf Ansari have been arrested.
