Rs 12 crore approved for Nagpur's Deekshabhoomi redevelopment
A separate budget head will be created for the four-phase redevelopment of Nagpur's Deekshabhoomi, revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said
A separate budget head will be created in the upcoming winter assembly session for the redevelopment of Nagpur's Deekshabhoomi. Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule gave this information on Saturday. He said the redevelopment work will be completed in four phases in all.
Bawankule reviewed the initial blueprint prepared by the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA). After the review, he said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had personally directed him to create a separate budget head for the project. He also said Rs 12 crore had already been approved for the redevelopment.
The initial blueprint will now be sent to members of the Deekshabhoomi Trust and local public representatives, including Ramtek MP Shyam Barve, so they can offer their suggestions. All stakeholders will be given 15 days to submit their suggestions. After this process, the plan will be finalised, and the final blueprint is expected to be ready by October 5.
A district-level committee meeting will then be held on October 7 or 8. After that meeting, a state-level high-power committee meeting will be held in October itself. Following these two meetings, the proposal will be sent to a committee headed by the Chief Minister for approval. Bawankule also said further funds would be made available as needed for the project.
According to the proposed plan, work in the first and second phases will be carried out on land that is already available, so no separate land acquisition will be needed for these two phases. However, additional land will be required for the third and fourth phases, which is currently with the health department and the central government.
