Nagpur: 20-year-old held for rape after allegedly refusing to marry woman, 22

Nagpur: A 22-year-old woman has alleged that a 20-year-old man promised to marry her, had sexual relations with her and then refused to go through with the marriage, citing lack of family consent. The case has come to light in the Imambada police station area.

Imambada police have arrested the accused, Om Gaikwad.

According to the woman's complaint, she has been friends with Om for a long time. Om had promised to marry her. On that assurance, she went with him to his friend's house, where the two had sexual relations. The complaint also alleges that Om was drunk at the time.

Later, when the woman asked Om about marriage, he refused, saying his family had not given consent. The woman then approached Imambada police. Police registered a case of rape and arrested Om.
