Chunabhatti police have booked a doctor, his alleged girlfriend and his mother for abetment of suicide after his 36-year-old nurse wife died by hanging on April 2.
A 36-year-old woman who worked as a nurse at a well-known hospital in central Mumbai died by hanging herself. Chunabhatti police have registered a case against her husband, a doctor, his alleged girlfriend and the woman's mother-in-law.
According to police, the husband worked as a doctor at the same hospital where the woman was a nurse. As they worked in the same place, their married life went well at first. Then, some time ago, another woman came into the husband's life.
Police said that after the husband's relationship with the woman began, the couple started quarrelling constantly. It is alleged that the husband subjected his wife to physical and mental harassment because of his alleged girlfriend. The nurse is said to have decided to end her life, worn down by this suffering and humiliation.
It is said that the doctor husband did not come to the spot even after he was informed of his wife's suicide. The incident left her father and the entire family in deep shock.
The incident took place on April 2, and some months have passed since. The woman's father and family members were in deep shock and grief at the untimely death of their daughter. Even so, they composed themselves and decided to fight a legal battle.
Before her death, the woman had left behind a suicide note. According to police, the note states in detail that the husband harassed her for the sake of his girlfriend and that her mother-in-law supported him in this.
Finally, on October 30, the father of the 36-year-old woman went to Chunabhatti police station and gave a formal complaint. On the basis of what is written in the suicide note, police have registered a case of abetment of suicide against the doctor husband, his alleged girlfriend and the woman's mother-in-law.
Chunabhatti police are now gathering more evidence in the case, and the investigation is moving ahead rapidly.
