Nagpur: 21-year-old dies by suicide in Wanadongri, case against six of woman's family

Vishal Jawade, 21, died by suicide in the Wanadongri area of Nagpur by consuming poison. According to the family's and police complaint, Vishal was in a relationship with a young woman, and the relationship was inter-caste. It is alleged that the woman's family threatened him over the relationship and assaulted him.

Vishal was undergoing treatment after consuming the poison, but died during treatment. MIDC police have registered a case of abetment of suicide against six members of the woman's family. Police are investigating.

According to police, Vishal and the woman had been in love for four years and wanted to marry. The woman is 20 years old. Police said her family did not approve of the relationship because he belonged to another community.

The complaint alleges that the woman's relatives went to Vishal's house, where they abused and scuffled with Vishal and his mother. Vishal tried to reason with them, but matters worsened and the dispute escalated.

According to the complaint, the accused threatened Vishal to end the relationship. They allegedly said that if he did not break it off, they would kill him and go to jail, or else force him to take his own life, but would not let the two marry.

The complaint states that, distressed by all this, Vishal consumed poison. He could not be saved. MIDC police registered the case on the basis of this complaint.

All of this remains allegation at this stage. The six people against whom police have registered the case are accused, and what has been said about the threats, abuse and assault is an allegation made in the complaint. The investigation is continuing.
