Gondia: Crime has risen in the state, with incidents of murder, attempted murder and assault reported daily from different areas, creating fear among citizens. In one such incident, a man was beaten with fists, kicks and a bamboo stick at Atri during an argument over the return of Rs 500 given at a time of need. A case has been registered at Davniwada police station against Dhiraj Valmik Bansod (48), a resident of Atri.

Hemraj Ramdas Chaure (52, resident of Atri) had given the accused Rs 500 at a time of need. In return, the accused had said he would spray pesticide in Chaure's field. On the day of the incident, Chaure asked the accused about spraying the field. The accused said he would neither spray the field nor return the money, and an argument followed.

According to the complaint, the accused abused Chaure and punched him on the face and nose. He then allegedly pushed Chaure to the ground and beat him with a bamboo stick on the back, the back of the head, the ear, the left shoulder and the left leg. The complainant also said the accused threatened to deal with him later.

Davniwada police registered the case on Chaure's complaint and on the basis of the medical report. Police constable Gulabdas Turkar is investigating further.

In another incident, four men allegedly stopped an LLB student and attacked him with a knife, angry that he had intervened in a fight at college. The student's fingers on the right hand were injured. His friend was also stabbed and seriously injured. Both are being treated at a private hospital.

The incident took place on October 17 in the afternoon in front of the Sailani Baba Wheel Alignment Centre at N-6, CIDCO. The attackers have been named as Harsh Rathod, Swapnil Rathod, Sanket Rathod and Sonya, and a case has been registered against them at CIDCO police station. Pritamsingh Devichand Barwal (22, resident of Bhagatsingh Nagar, Hasul) filed the complaint. Cases have thus been registered at the respective police stations in both incidents.
