Gondia, 19th: The Central government has clarified that making, printing and distributing a separate identity card on the basis of the Farmer ID issued to farmers registered under the AgriStack scheme is unauthorised and against the rules. Accordingly, all concerned service centres in Gondia district have been directed to stop such work immediately.

Farmers are being registered and issued Farmer IDs under the Central government's AgriStack scheme. The Farmer ID is linked to the registration of farmers. Official government approval is required to make, print or distribute a separate identity card on its basis. It has been stated that making or distributing a separate identity card without such approval is against the rules.

Against this background, all concerned service centres in the district have been told to stop immediately the process of making, printing and distributing separate identity cards based on the Farmer ID. They have also been directed to strictly follow the official guidelines issued by the government and the orders of the competent authorities.

Farmers have also been urged to keep these instructions in mind and to be wary of claims made in the name of preparing and giving separate identity cards on the basis of the Farmer ID. They should take no action for identity cards that do not have official government approval. Farmers should rely only on official information and notices. The appeal has been made by the District Superintendent Agriculture Officer, Gondia.

The message, in sum, is that the Farmer ID stands on its own, but making, printing or distributing a separate identity card on its basis cannot be done without government approval. Service centres in Gondia district should stop this at once, and farmers should not fall for such claims.
