The factory-fitted CNG compact SUV, launched in October 2026, scored 29.36 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 for child protection.

Mahindra's XUV 3XO ZNG has secured a 5-star safety rating in India's Bharat NCAP crash test. The factory-fitted CNG compact SUV was launched in October 2026. In the test it scored 29.36 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 for child occupant protection.

According to the company, it is India's first sub-compact CNG SUV to earn a 5-star rating. The petrol XUV 3XO had earlier received a 5-star rating from the same body in 2024.

The XUV 3XO ZNG is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder mStallion turbo petrol engine. The engine produces 110 hp of power and 200 Nm of torque in both petrol and CNG modes. The gearbox is a 6-speed manual. The company claims that in CNG mode the vehicle reaches 60 kmph from standstill in 4.9 seconds and 100 kmph in 11.8 seconds. The SUV has a certified mileage of 24.7 km/kg.

Boot space is affected. The dual-cylinder CNG system is fitted beneath the luggage compartment, which gives a flat loading floor, and the boot space is 270 litres. The petrol model has 364 litres, which makes the CNG version 94 litres smaller. The spare wheel is mounted on the underside of the vehicle.

The SUV has more than 35 standard safety features. These include 6 airbags, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child seat mounts and 3-point seat belts for all occupants. If CNG gas leaks, the system automatically switches to petrol mode. An automatic switchover function also works when CNG runs low.

The XUV 3XO ZNG is available in four variants. The MX Edge is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The RevX Edge (O) costs Rs 10.79 lakh, the AX5 Rs 11.19 lakh and the RevX A Rs 12.27 lakh.

Features vary by variant. The MX Edge gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen, cruise control and a reversing camera. The AX5 has dual 10.25-inch displays, dual-zone climate control and connected features. The top-end RevX A gets a sunroof, Dolby Atmos audio and black leatherette seats. In the market, it competes with the Tata Nexon CNG and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG.
