Residents of Faizpur have demanded that a country liquor shop near the weekly market, Ramdevbaba Nagar and the Muktidham area be closed permanently or moved elsewhere. Following the demand, officials of the prohibition department inspected the shop on site.

During the inspection, residents urged the officials to take action. They are concerned about the shop's location because it lies in a densely populated area frequented by large numbers of young children, youths and school and college students.

Residents say that with a liquor shop in such a place, there is a fear of a bad influence on the younger generation. The weekly market is held in the area every Wednesday. The Shri Ramdevbaba temple is also nearby, so large crowds of devotees gather as well. The road to the villages of Viroda and Pimprud also passes through here, so customers come in large numbers.

According to residents, the country liquor shop has led to a high number of drunkards in the area. There have also been quarrels over trivial matters. Women face the most trouble, and people in the area have to put up with various difficulties as a result. Residents hope women will be able to move about safely.

Local residents have drawn the administration's attention to the demand through a memorandum. Copies have been sent to the district superintendent of the State Excise Department, the Jalgaon district Superintendent of Police and the sub-divisional officers concerned.

The prohibition department officials inspected the shop and also spoke to residents. People are now watching for further action in the matter. Residents hope the administration will heed their complaint, take the right decision and give people in the area a safe environment.
