JSW Group will launch its car brand JSW Motors on December 4, 2026 with the Combat, a premium plug-in hybrid SUV whose interior pictures have leaked.
JSW Group, a major name in steel, is entering the car market directly. The company will make its official entry on December 4, 2026 and unveil its first vehicle the same day. The new brand will be called JSW Motors and the first vehicle has been named Combat.
The Combat will be a premium plug-in hybrid SUV. It is reported to be the Chinese Jetour T2 with some modifications, being brought to India as the Combat. Ahead of the launch, some pictures of its interior have leaked.
The leaked pictures show an interior that looks the same as the Jetour T2's. The steering wheel has four spokes and the logo at its centre is covered so that it cannot be seen. The whole cabin is in a dual-tone colour scheme, which makes the vehicle look quite expensive.
A large touchscreen of about 15.6 inches, as big as a tablet, sits in the middle of the dashboard. In front of the driver is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Both front seats are electric and have a memory function. The seats are also ventilated, a useful feature in summer. For music there are 12 Sony speakers. A 540-degree camera will also show the area under the vehicle. Level 2 ADAS will be offered for safety. The company will make some further changes after assessing the preferences of Indian buyers.
From the outside, the Combat looks powerful and rugged. It has a boxy, square design, which is popular these days, and its look resembles the Thar and the Defender. It has good height and appears built for off-roading. It has roof rails, plain door handles, large windows and side steps for easier entry. A flat bonnet, square headlights and an upright front make the vehicle look aggressive.
The SUV runs on large 20-inch alloy wheels. A spare wheel with a square cover is mounted on the rear door. On size, it may be 4,785 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,880 mm tall. The wheelbase is 2,800 mm and the ground clearance is 220 mm. Five people can sit comfortably, and there is a large boot space of 752 litres at the rear.
The engine is the subject of the most curiosity. It will have the same plug-in hybrid powertrain as the Jetour T2 i-DM, combining petrol and battery. It can be run on charge as well as on petrol. The range is said to be excellent.
JSW has already tied up with MG Motor, and talks were also on with Skoda Volkswagen. It is now bringing its own brand. At first the vehicle will come in as a CBU, meaning a fully built vehicle will be imported. Production in India will be started gradually later.
The price will be known at the launch on December 4, 2026. If it falls in the Rs 40-50 lakh range, it could give stiff competition to the Fortuner and other premium SUVs.
