Jio-bp, the private fuel company of Reliance Industries, has raised petrol and diesel prices. The company has increased petrol by Rs 5 a litre and diesel by Rs 3 a litre. The new rates came into effect at 6 am on Sunday, October 11, 2026, so customers will now have to pay more to fill up at Jio-bp pumps.

Petrol and diesel prices had been steady for the past few days. Earlier, private oil company Nayara Energy had also raised petrol by Rs 5 and diesel by Rs 3. People now fear that the increase could spread to other pumps as well.

After the increase, petrol is selling at about Rs 108.54 a litre and diesel at Rs 99.19 a litre in Punjab. It has been reported that rates have gone up across the country. In Haryana, petrol is being sold at about Rs 109.80 a litre and diesel at Rs 97.75 a litre at Jio-bp pumps.

Jio-bp has 2,227 petrol pumps in the country. The company is a joint venture of Reliance Industries and the British energy company BP. This is the first time this year that the company has raised petrol and diesel prices.

The reason being cited is the conflict in West Asia and disruptions to oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz. These have put pressure on prices of crude oil and petroleum products in the international market, which directly affects the margins of fuel retailers. For this reason, Jio-bp and other private companies decided to raise prices.

So far, only private companies have raised prices. At pumps of public sector oil companies such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL), prices of regular petrol and diesel remain unchanged. As a result, the gap between rates at private and public sector pumps has widened considerably. Customers are advised to check the new rate at their nearest pump before filling up.
