A Dussehra rally was held at Narayangad in Beed district. At the rally, Maratha agitator Manoj Jarange Patil made several announcements on Maratha reservation, farmers' problems and the community's way forward. He said separate contact arrangements would be started for registering those who want to work for the Maratha community, for complaints from people who have Kunbi records but have not received certificates, and for other difficulties unrelated to reservation. He also appealed to people to send home, in the 2029 elections, leaders who go against the community.
This is the third year of the Dussehra rally at Narayangad. Maratha community members had come in large numbers from across the state. Speaking on the occasion, Jarange Patil asked those who wish to work for the community to come forward.
Jarange Patil said that after Vijayadashami, those who want to work for the Maratha community but have not earlier been registered as "Maratha Sevak" will also be registered. He said a separate mobile number would be announced for this, and those interested could register through that number.
There are complaints that some people, despite Kunbi records being found, are not getting a caste certificate, a validity certificate or the benefit of reservation. Jarange Patil raised the issue that in some places applications are not accepted and in some places the officials concerned harass applicants. A separate contact number will be given for such cases. He appealed to those who are not getting certificates despite having records, or who face difficulties at the administrative level, to report their problem on this number. He said the aim was to understand and address the difficulties of the Maratha community in the state.
A separate number will also be given for other problems unrelated to reservation. However, Jarange Patil said, people should report their problem on this number by message rather than by calling. People should use these contact numbers only after they are officially announced.
Referring to the crowd at the rally, Jarange Patil said the Maratha community had been struggling for its demands for the past three years. He said the turnout at Narayangad was a symbol of the community's unity. He also said he had not taken a wrong step so far while working for the community.
He appealed to Maratha community members to give priority to the community's issues rather than follow political leaders. He said any leader who goes against the community should be sent home in the 2029 elections. He criticised that when a crisis hits a Maratha leader in any party, the community stands behind that leader, but when it is time to solve the community's problems, they are ignored. He underlined that the community and the future of its youth matter more than love for leaders.
Along with Maratha reservation, Jarange Patil also drew attention to farmers' financial difficulties. He said farmers in the state were in distress and that if farming brought no income, running a family became difficult. Appealing to the government to take these demands seriously, he put forward five demands: financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh per hectare for farmers, a complete loan waiver, deposit of the entire crop insurance amount in farmers' accounts, immediate release of pending subsidies, and fodder camps in every village. He said that given the shadow of drought and the uncertainty in farming, farmers needed help.
Jarange Patil said most Maratha families depend on farming. He said that if the crop fails it becomes hard to run the household, and not every home has someone in a job, so farmers' difficulties need to be understood. He also said members of the community take part in the agitation regardless of sun, wind and rain, so their issues should not be ignored. His message was that merely gathering a large crowd is not enough; what matters is that the community's demands are met.
Overall, at the Narayangad rally Jarange Patil stressed Maratha Sevak registration, problems with Kunbi certificates, farmers' demands and the community's political stand in the coming elections. Attention now turns to how the community's problems will be collected through the contact numbers to be announced, and what stand is taken on them.
