Hyundai has launched its new midsize SUV, the Bayon, in the Indian market. The company has positioned it between its popular Venue and Creta models. Keeping in mind that customers have different budgets and needs, the car has been introduced in seven trims and 11 variants.
The Bayon is available in seven trims: HX2, HX3, HX3+, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10. Ex-showroom prices start at Rs 10 lakh and go up to Rs 18 lakh. The cheapest is the petrol manual (MT) HX2 at Rs 9.99 lakh. The most affordable CVT automatic option is in the HX5 trim, priced at Rs 13.85 lakh. The HX10 iVT automatic variant costs Rs 17.99 lakh (Rs 18 lakh).
The base HX2 gets a 4.2-inch TFT MID, manual AC, rear AC vents, LED projector headlamps, six airbags, ESC, TPMS, rear parking sensors and hill-start assist. The HX3 adds a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rearview camera, steering-mounted controls, keyless entry and push-button start. The HX3+ has a single-pane sunroof, 17-inch styled steel wheels and roof rails.
The HX5 has a wireless phone charger, connected car technology, automatic climate control, cruise control and automatic headlamps. Drive modes and paddle shifters come in the CVT variant. The HX6 offers a panoramic sunroof, leatherette steering wheel and gear knob, ambient lighting, 17-inch alloy wheels and dual LED projector headlamps.
The HX8 has ventilated front seats, an eight-way powered driver seat, a dashcam, leatherette upholstery, rear disc brakes and front parking sensors. An electronic parking brake comes in the CVT variant. The top HX10 has a 12.3-inch infotainment and driver display, Level 2 ADAS Pro, generative AI, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, a 360-degree camera and blind spot detection.
The 2026 Hyundai Bayon uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, the same unit used in the Hyundai Creta. It produces a maximum 115hp and peak torque of 144Nm. It can be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or an iVT automatic transmission. The HX2, HX3 and HX3 Plus come only with the manual, while the HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10 offer both the manual and iVT options.
The CVT variant gets Sport, Eco and Normal driving modes, along with a Dash Boost mode. The company claims a mileage of 18.6 km per litre for the iVT automatic variant.
A CNG version of the Bayon is likely to be launched in January 2027. The model may also use the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine and could get an underbody-mounted CNG tank. Official details on the CNG version's mileage, price and other features will be revealed at launch.
