Hyundai Bayon SUV to launch on October 26, price to be announced the same day

Hyundai is preparing to launch its new SUV, the Hyundai Bayon, in the Indian market. The price of the vehicle in India will be announced on October 26, 2026. Bookings are currently open both at dealerships and online, and require a payment of Rs 11,000.

The five-seater SUV will slot between the company's Venue and Creta. It could be a new option for customers who want more premium features than a compact SUV offers.

On the engine, the Bayon is expected to get a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine. The engine produces 113.4 hp of power and 144 Nm of torque. It will be offered with a choice of a 6-speed manual and an IVT automatic gearbox. The same engine is also fitted in the Venue and Creta. A factory-fitted CNG variant of the SUV may follow, but the company has not yet made any final announcement on this.

The Bayon is about 4.2 metres long. It is built on the company's Global Enhanced platform and carries the Art of Steel design theme. At the front it gets H-shaped daytime running lamps, separate headlamps, angular wheel arches and roof rails. At the rear it has slim tail lamps, a roof spoiler and a contrasting-colour bumper trim.

The cabin will have two connected 12.3-inch displays, one for the instrument cluster and the other for infotainment. Physical climate controls and steering buttons will make it easy to operate key functions.

The SUV is expected to get Hyundai's generative AI voice assistant, which will use technology from Perplexity and SoundHound. It is said to handle more than 500 voice commands without an internet connection in English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu. Bluelink will also provide more than 70 connected services and remote software updates for 19 controllers.

The expected ex-showroom price could be between Rs 9.6 lakh and Rs 14.5 lakh. The official price has not yet been released.
