Hyundai Motor India Limited recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in September 2026, selling a total of 77,916 vehicles across the domestic market and exports. This is 10.8% more than in September last year.

The company also surpassed the monthly sales record it had set a few months earlier.

In the domestic market, Hyundai sold 57,166 vehicles, a rise of 10.9% over last year. Domestic sales made up about 73% of the company's total sales for September. The response to SUV models such as the Creta and the Venue played a key role in the sales.

Exports also grew well. The company shipped 20,750 vehicles overseas, 10.4% more than a year earlier. That means about one in every four Hyundai vehicles sold in September was sent to a foreign market.

The rise comes at the start of the festival season, and the company expects more customers at its showrooms over the next few weeks. The response from festival-season car buyers could prove important for Hyundai.

Meanwhile, Hyundai has opened bookings in India for its new SUV, the Bayon. It will be a new nameplate in the company's Indian line-up. The five-seater Bayon is expected to slot between the Venue and the Creta, giving customers another SUV option.

The Bayon will come with a petrol engine, with a choice of a 6-speed manual and an IVT automatic gearbox. The car will also have a dual-screen digital setup and a built-in generative AI voice assistant. It remains to be seen whether the new SUV gives Hyundai's sales further momentum during the festival season.
