The SUV's ex-showroom price runs from Rs 9,99,900 to Rs 18,14,900 across manual and iVT automatic variants.
Hyundai has announced prices for all variants of its SUV Bayon. The ex-showroom price starts at Rs 9,99,900 and goes up to Rs 18,14,900 for the top variant. Customers can buy it with a manual or an iVT automatic gearbox. Given its starting price, the Bayon appears set to compete with vehicles such as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
The Bayon has a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 115 PS of power and 143.8 Nm of torque. The company has named the variants HX2, HX3, HX3+, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10. Dual-tone variants cost more than their single-tone counterparts. The base HX2 manual variant is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, while the HX5 iVT automatic starts at Rs 13.84 lakh.
On rival models, the 1.5-litre petrol Hyundai Creta starts at Rs 10.90 lakh and the Kia Seltos at Rs 10.99 lakh. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is available from Rs 10.49 lakh and the Grand Vitara from Rs 10.77 lakh. The Toyota Hyryder starts at Rs 11.31 lakh and the Honda Elevate at Rs 11.80 lakh. On this basis, the entry variants of the Bayon cost less than all of these vehicles.
The picture changes somewhat among automatic models. The Bayon HX5 iVT costs Rs 13.84 lakh. The Creta iVT starts at Rs 14.49 lakh, the Seltos CVT at Rs 13.39 lakh and the Elevate CVT at Rs 13.79 lakh. Buyers of automatic cars will therefore need to compare the features and prices of each model carefully.
Among the costlier variants, the Bayon HX8 and HX10 start at Rs 15.09 lakh and Rs 16.64 lakh respectively. The top HX10 dual-tone variant with the iVT automatic is priced at Rs 18.14 lakh. At this price level, the Bayon competes with the higher variants of the Creta, Seltos and Elevate.
The Bayon offers ventilated seats, electric adjustment for the driver's seat, a surround-view camera, two 12.3-inch displays and Level 2 Pro ADAS. While the base variant's price is attractive, buyers choosing a top model will need to weigh both features and budget.
