Hyundai has launched its new SUV, the Bayon, in the Indian market. The starting ex-showroom price is Rs 9.99 lakh. The SUV has been built to fill the gap between the Venue and the Creta.
The Bayon will be available in seven variants: HX2, HX3, HX3+, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10.
On design, the Bayon has LED DRLs, dual LED projector headlamps and H-Edge LED tail-lamps. Geometric wheel arches, roof rails and body cladding give it a modern look. The vehicle is 4,245 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,605 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,600 mm and ground clearance of 205 mm. It has a boot space of 505 litres and a 43-litre fuel tank.
The SUV has a 1,497 cc, four-cylinder MPi petrol engine that produces 115 PS of power at 6,300 rpm and 143.8 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual and an iVT automatic gearbox. Automatic variants get paddle shifters, a dash boost mode and three drive modes: Eco, Normal and Sport. The Idle Stop & Go system can help reduce fuel consumption.
The cabin has two 12.3-inch panoramic displays, along with wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and wireless phone charging. A Bose audio system is offered in select variants. Other features include ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and a panoramic sunroof. Hyundai has also provided a Generative AI voice assistant, developed with the help of Perplexity and SoundHound AI.
For safety, the SUV gets six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The top variant has Level 2 Pro ADAS with 23 driver assistance functions, along with a blind-spot view monitor and a surround view monitor. The company says the SUV has more than 80 features, of which more than 35 are standard.
The SUV is made in India, and there is a plan to export it to more than 50 international markets.
