The weather in Maharashtra is likely to be hot and humid on Thursday, October 15. Rain activity has eased in most parts of the state, so strong sunshine and rising temperatures are now being felt.
Humidity may add to people's discomfort in Mumbai and Konkan. In many parts of Pune and Vidarbha, the heat is likely to feel stronger during the day.
Mumbai is expected to see hazy sunshine and warm weather today. As the city is by the sea, humidity in the air stays high and people may feel hotter than the actual temperature. Humid conditions may also persist in Thane, Navi Mumbai and Palghar. Some relief is expected in the evening from sea breezes.
The temperature in Nagpur has been recorded at 24 degrees on October 15. According to available weather information, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 32 degrees and the minimum around 23 degrees. Sunrise in the city will be at 5:54 am and sunset at 5:29 pm. The humidity level has been recorded at 91 per cent and atmospheric pressure at 1013.
Air quality in Nagpur is also a concern. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has been recorded at 144. The PM2.5 level is 69 and PM10 is 137. Sensitive people should therefore take care during outdoor activities.
In Pune, strong sunshine is expected during the day after the rain eased, and the effect of the heat may increase. Temperatures are also likely to feel higher at midday in Nagpur, Akola, Amravati, Wardha and Chandrapur. People working outdoors should take particular care.
In Marathwada, the weather is likely to remain mainly hot and dry in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Latur and Nanded. The effect of strong sunshine is also likely to be felt in Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule and Ahilyanagar in North Maharashtra. However, the weather may vary between districts because of local conditions.
To beat the heat, avoid going out unnecessarily in the afternoon. Drink plenty of water, wear light clothes and take special care of children and the elderly. People sensitive to air quality should take extra precautions as needed.
