Honda has introduced a significant update for riders who prefer cruiser motorcycles. The company has launched the 2027 Honda Rebel 500 in the global market. The bike now gets a new circular TFT display, updated switchgear and, for the first time in a 500cc model, the option of E-Clutch technology. Some of these features were also seen on the Rebel 500 shown earlier for India.
The old negative LCD instrument cluster has been replaced by a 3.5-inch circular TFT display. The new screen shows the rider essential information more clearly. Two new buttons have been added to the left-side switchgear so that the display's features can be used easily. This is expected to make it simpler to handle different settings while riding.
The biggest highlight of the update is Honda's E-Clutch technology. With this system, gears can be changed without using the clutch lever. In conditions that call for frequent gear changes, rider fatigue can come down. In the global market, this is the first time the feature is being offered as an option on the Rebel 500. The technology had also drawn attention earlier in the model shown for India.
There is no major change to the engine. The bike continues with the 471cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, which produces 46.2hp at 8,500rpm and 43.3Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. The focus this time is on improving features and the riding experience rather than engine performance.
There are some changes to the colours as well. The standard model gets a new Matte Fresco Brown shade. The European S Edition adds a new colour called Candy Rosy Red. The S Edition also has distinct design elements such as a headlight cowl, fork covers, gaiters, a brown diamond-stitch seat and bronze wheels.
As for India, the Honda Rebel 500 was introduced in the country in July 2026 and its launch is expected in early 2027. The final price and sales date of the Indian model are not yet clear. For reference, the smaller Honda Rebel 300 starts at Rs 2.22 lakh in India according to the global announcement, but that is not the price of the Rebel 500. More clarity on price and features will come after the Rebel 500 is launched in India.
