Notorious liquor seller Gajanan Patankar stabbed to death in Deoli, 4-5 suspects detained

A sensational murder has been reported from Deoli town in Wardha district, where notorious liquor seller Gajanan Patankar was stabbed to death around midnight in the Indiranagar area. The killing has left the whole of Deoli in fear and tension.

According to preliminary information, four to five youths attacked Patankar with a knife and struck him several times in the abdomen. The attack is said to be the result of a quarrel that had been going on for about a week.

Patankar and the youths accused of the attack had reportedly been in dispute over one matter or another for the past week. On Sunday, a few hours before the incident, the two sides had a heated argument. The matter did not end there.

Some time later, Patankar went again to Indiranagar, where the youths live. The quarrel flared up once more, and it escalated to the point where four to five enraged youths attacked Patankar with a knife with intent to kill. They are alleged to have struck him several times in the abdomen. Seriously injured and drenched in blood, Patankar collapsed and died on the spot.

News of the incident caused panic in the area. Sandeep Kapade, the station house officer of Deoli police station, treated the matter as serious, ordered an investigation without delay and reached the spot himself.

Under Kapade's leadership, police carried out a quick search operation and within a few hours detained four to five suspected youths in connection with the murder. The youths are in custody and are being questioned.

Deoli police are now investigating in depth the actual reason for the murder, what the old enmity between the two sides was about, and who exactly was involved in the attack. The answers to these questions will emerge only when the investigation is complete.
