Deoli police station in Wardha district is running a special drive against illegal sand mining and transport. Under it, police took two separate actions on October 4, 2026, seizing two tractor-trolleys and sand. The seized goods are valued at Rs 14.14 lakh.

The first action took place in the early hours on the Dighi-Deoli road. According to police, the accused, Mayur Bhaskarrao Mohekar, 27, a resident of Ward No. 3, Deoli, Wardha district, was found transporting sand illegally in a tractor-trolley for profit, without any government permit. One brass of black wet sand worth Rs 7,000 was recovered from him. A red, unregistered Mahindra tractor, valued at about Rs 6,00,000, and a red, unregistered trolley worth Rs 1,00,000 were also seized. In all, goods worth Rs 7,00,000 were seized in this action. A case has been registered at Deoli police station under crime number 758/2026.

The second action was on the same road. According to police, the accused, Mangesh Vijayrao Taywade, 33, a resident of Ward No. 10, Deoli, Wardha district, was found transporting sand illegally by tractor-trolley without the required government permit. One brass of black wet sand, worth Rs 7,000, was seized from him as well. Police took possession of a red, unregistered Mahindra tractor, valued at about Rs 6,00,000, and a red, unregistered trolley worth Rs 1,00,000. Goods worth Rs 7,00,000 were seized here too. A case has been registered under crime number 759/2026.

In both cases, action was taken under Section 303(2) of the BNS, Section 48(8) of the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code and the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. Investigation in both cases is continuing.

The action was carried out under the guidance of Wardha Superintendent of Police Saurabhkumar Agrawal (IPS), Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare and Pulgaon Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dr Vandana Karkhile. Deoli police station house officer Sandeep Kapde led it. Police constables Amol Alwalkar and Shyam Gawner, and police personnel Santosh Gite and Akash Kasar took active part.

Police said the special drive against illegal sand mining and transport in the Deoli police station area will continue. Strict and sustained legal action will be taken against those who transport sand illegally and cause a loss of revenue to the government, they said.
