Bhadravati police scan 70 CCTV cameras, trace two bike theft suspects to Nagpur

Bhadravati police studied footage from about 70 CCTV cameras while probing two separate motorcycle thefts in the town, and used it to trace two suspects to Nagpur. Ashutosh Atiram Yadav (19) and Kamal Mohan Das (20) have been named as the accused. The action has moved the investigation into both theft cases forward.
The first case concerns Vijay Gaikwad, a resident of Ambedkarnagar in Bhadravati. His red-and-black Honda motorcycle (MH 34 AC 2410) was stolen from the bus stand area. The bike is valued at about Rs 10,000. A complaint was filed at Bhadravati police station on September 4, 2026, and a case was registered on that basis.
The second incident took place near Doli petrol pump on the Bhadravati-Nagpur road. A motorcycle (MH 34 CW 2624) belonging to Amol Belekar, a resident of Jena, was stolen from there. The bike is valued at about Rs 1.75 lakh. The complaint was filed on October 5.
Police had registered cases in both incidents. During the investigation, footage from about 70 CCTV cameras along the routes leading away from the theft sites was examined closely. Following the thieves' route through this footage, the police team reached Nagpur. The suspects were identified during the probe and then traced.
The action was carried out under the guidance of Sachin Khetre, in-charge officer of Bhadravati police station and sub-divisional police officer. Sub-inspector Santosh Kedar, along with Prashant Shendre, Devanand Dukre, Gopal Atkulwar, Anup Ashtunkar, Yogesh Ghatole, Khushal Kawale, Santosh Rathod and Monali Gargate, took part in the operation.
