Yashodhara Nagar police in Nagpur have busted a gang accused of stealing e-rickshaw batteries and arrested two men. Four stolen e-rickshaw batteries and the two-wheeler allegedly used in the thefts have been recovered from them.

The case came to light when Raviraj Wankhede, a resident of Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, approached Yashodhara Nagar police and reported that the batteries of his e-rickshaw had been stolen.

According to his complaint, he had kept the batteries outside his house for charging. On the night of September 3, unidentified thieves allegedly made off with them.

Police registered a case and began investigating the theft.

During the investigation, police obtained CCTV footage from the area. The footage is said to have provided important leads about the suspects and helped investigators trace their movements.

Meanwhile, during routine patrolling in the area, police spotted two men whose appearance matched the suspects. They were taken into custody and questioned.

During questioning, the two were identified as Abdul Ibrahim and Ibrahim Khan. Based on information provided by the accused, police allegedly recovered the four stolen e-rickshaw batteries and the two-wheeler said to have been used in the crime. The recovered items have been taken into police custody as part of the investigation.

Yashodhara Nagar police are now examining whether the accused were also involved in other e-rickshaw battery thefts in Nagpur.

Police are also trying to find out where the stolen batteries were allegedly sold or disposed of, and whether anyone else was part of the theft network.

Further investigation into the case is under way.
