Ballarpur police have registered a case against Sohail Khanja Sayyed on a complaint that he struck a 25-year-old man on the head with a stone on Sunday night.

A complaint has been filed with the police in Ballarpur alleging that a 25-year-old man was attacked with a stone in the Teen Ekka Gate area. According to the complaint, the incident took place at about 11.30 pm on Sunday, November 1. The injured man is Chetan Bala Bhukya, a resident of Phulsingh Naik ward in Ballarpur. He has named Sohail Khanja Sayyed as the accused.

Chetan earns a living through daily-wage labour. The complainant and the accused had quarrelled over a minor matter two years ago, and the two had not been on speaking terms since.

According to the information received, at around 8 pm on November 1, 2026, Chetan went with his friend Golu Sheikh to drink near Teen Ekka Gate. The two drank there and were walking home along the road at about 11.30 pm.

On the way, the accused, Sohail Khanja Sayyed, called out and stopped them. The complaint says he was first talking to Chetan's friend Golu Sheikh. He then suddenly began abusing Chetan, out of resentment over the old quarrel, it is alleged.

Chetan asked him why he was abusing them. It is alleged that Sohail, angered by this, vented his rage over the old dispute by hitting Chetan on the head with a stone and fled the spot. In the sudden attack, Chetan's head began bleeding and he was seriously injured.

After the incident, Chetan and his friend went straight to the government hospital in Ballarpur, where Chetan was treated.

On Chetan Bhukya's oral complaint, Ballarpur police have booked the accused, Sohail Khanja Sayyed, under Sections 118(1) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. Police constable Maroti Phulzele is investigating the case further.
