Most people shopping for an electric scooter worry about three things: the battery's range, how many years it will last, and what it will cost to replace. Ather's family e-scooter, the Ather Rizta, offers an extended warranty plan for the battery of up to 10 years or 1,00,000 km. According to the company, the plan guarantees battery health of at least 70 per cent.
The company's official information lists several battery warranty options with AtherStack Pro. AtherStack Pro comes with coverage of 5 years or 60,000 km. The Eight70 extended battery warranty gives 8 years or 80,000 km. At the top is the premium extended battery warranty, which runs up to 10 years or 1,00,000 km depending on eligibility.
If battery health falls below 70 per cent during this period, the company assures a battery replacement subject to the applicable terms. However, the 10-year warranty does not come automatically with every scooter. A separate plan has to be bought, and eligibility and other conditions must be checked.
The Rizta is powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. According to the technical details provided, the motor delivers a maximum of 4.3 kW of power and 22 Nm of torque. The scooter takes 4.7 seconds to go from 0 to 40 kmph and has a top speed of 80 kmph. It is designed for daily city commuting, trips to the office and short family journeys.
Two battery packs are available, 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh. According to the company's website, the 2.9 kWh battery gives an IDC range of 123 km. In some variants with the larger battery, the range goes up to 161 km. Actual range can vary with road conditions, speed, load and riding style.
For storage, the scooter has 34 litres of under-seat space, which can hold a helmet and a few items of daily use. The kerb weight is 125 kg, seat height is 780 mm and ground clearance is 150 mm.
The scooter has telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock suspension at the rear. It has a 200 mm disc brake at the front and a drum brake with CBS at the rear. It also gets 12-inch alloy wheels and tubeless tyres.
According to the company's official website, the Rizta S starts at Rs 1,21,999 and the Rizta Z at Rs 1,36,999. Prices can vary with the battery, variant and other options.
Buyers should check the final price and the terms of the warranty plan with an authorised dealer in their city before purchase.
