A new electric two-wheeler is entering the market almost every day, and customer interest is shifting fast towards electric scooters. In this competition to take on big players like TVS and Bajaj, Ather Energy has officially launched its new family electric scooter, the Konark, in Delhi.

Because of the subsidy available in Delhi, the scooter's starting ex-showroom price has been set at just Rs 79,999, which has generated considerable interest among customers.

The scooter is built on Ather's new EL platform, designed to be more comfortable and easy to use for daily commuting. Keeping customer needs in mind, it has been launched in a total of 6 variants under the S and Z product lines. Based on the IDC range rating, the scooter can deliver a range of up to 200 kilometres on a single full charge. Given the rising demand in Delhi-NCR, the company has also expanded its network and now offers 11 experience centres and more than 273 LECCS fast-charging points in the region.

The scooter's biggest highlight is its battery. All Konark variants come with the fifth-generation Bedrock battery pack, on which the company is offering a warranty of 10 years or 1,00,000 kilometres, whichever comes first. During this period, the company also guarantees that battery health will not fall below 70 percent. The service interval has also been extended to 10,000 kilometres, which will significantly cut maintenance costs.

Keeping the condition of Indian roads in mind, the body has also been made sturdier. It gets 14-inch front alloy wheels, 12-inch rear wheels and long-travel suspension. A metal panel and a steel unibody chassis at the rear make the scooter more rugged.

It also comes with several advanced features for safety and smart riding. AeBS, or Advanced Electronic Braking System, automatically controls brake force based on road conditions. The MagicKey feature offers a keyless experience with automatic locking. Features like AutoPop and AirWalk help riders easily open the under-seat storage and manage the scooter in tight parking spots. For charging, it comes with an integrated onboard charger as well as an optional 450W offboard charger, which cuts charging time nearly in half.
