Findability Sciences, a company it describes as among the world's leading firms in applied AI and data logistics, has announced the launch of 'Lacta Insight', a new product built specifically for the dairy sector. The product is part of the company's flagship platform 'LactaAI' and is available in India to all milk producers and processing plants.
India remains the world's largest milk producer, with output of 247.87 million tonnes in 2024-25. At this scale, even small improvements in milk collection, processing stability and energy use can bring dairy processing plants large economic gains. The difficulty is that losses of valuable milk components during processing are often known only after lab results come in, by which time they can no longer be made good.
Lacta Insight links lab, quality, maintenance and enterprise data. This lets plants detect losses before they grow, and analyse all the signals together to find likely causes quickly. It can also identify avoidable use of steam, water and energy in evaporation and drying, allowing large cost savings.
A notable feature is that the system does not change plant settings on its own. The operating team retains full control, and a record of every operator decision is kept for later audits.
Speaking about the initiative, Anand Mahurkar, founder and chief executive officer of Findability Sciences, said: "Most dairy processing plants have the information needed to detect losses, but it is scattered across separate systems. The 'Lacta Insight' product helps the plant team see, while the product is still on the line, what is changing, why it matters and where intervention is needed. A successful evaluation is currently under way at a large dairy processing plant in India, and our focus is on tackling real problems and delivering clear results."
Lacta Insight connects easily with a plant's existing PLC, SCADA, DCS, ERP, MES and LIMS systems, so plants do not need to change their existing infrastructure. It is currently available for butter, milk powder, milk protein concentrate and whey lines. It could later be extended to cheese and other products.
Dairy processing plants can request a free 30-minute 'Dairy AI Readiness Assessment' to check how well their plant data suits the system.
