A proposal has been made to close an 80-metre stretch of the road adjoining the municipal corporation's triangular plot, known as the Triangle Plot, so that the expansion of the Nagpur Vidhan Bhavan can proceed without interruption.

The Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) says adequate alternative routes are being provided during construction. According to the corporation, motorists and ordinary citizens will not face any inconvenience in getting around.

Under the proposal, only the 80-metre stretch from Forest Office Chowk towards the RBI is to be closed. Traffic will continue on all other roads. Traffic on the road from Zero Mile to Forest Office Chowk will also run normally, as before.

On diversions, the route towards BSNL, via the road in front of the gate of the Government Printing Press, will remain open for vehicles coming from the Zero Mile side. Vehicles heading from Zero Mile towards BSNL can therefore move easily via the road in front of the Government Press to Samvidhan Chowk and RBI Chowk.

Vehicles heading from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan towards the RBI can move easily via Zero Mile and Vidhan Bhavan Chowk, on the route leading to RBI Chowk.

MSIDC has also clarified that citizens' convenience has been given first priority during the expansion work. All necessary arrangements have been made to keep traffic in order across the area.

MSIDC and the traffic police department have jointly issued instructions on safety and signage. Clear signboards and direction boards will be put up near the closed stretch and at all diversion cuts, for people's convenience.

Additional traffic police personnel and Home Guards will be deployed to keep vehicles moving smoothly during busy hours and to deal with congestion. The administration has appealed to the public to use only the alternative routes indicated to avoid trouble, to follow traffic rules and to cooperate with the police arrangements.
