A 50-member delegation from Gondia has left as special guests for National Unity Day celebrations at Ekta Nagar on October 31, the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Gondia district, which has moved out of the shadow of Naxalism onto the path of peace and development, has received national-level recognition. National Unity Day celebrations will be held at Ekta Nagar (Kevadia) in Gujarat on October 31, 2026, on the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. A delegation of 50 Gondia citizens has left to attend as special guests.

The invitation has been extended under a special initiative of the Centre. Fifty citizens each from the formerly Naxal-affected districts of Maharashtra, namely Gondia, Gadchiroli and Chandrapur, have been invited to the event. The Centre had pledged to make the country Naxal-free by March 31, 2026. Inviting people from these areas to the celebration at the Statue of Unity is being seen as a major recognition of public participation and peace.

The visit was planned under the guidance of Gondia Superintendent of Police Gorakh Bhamre. Additional Superintendent of Police Abhay Dongre coordinated it. The journey is being made in two phases. In the first, three citizens were sent on October 27 with Police Inspector Pramod Bhatnate. On October 29, the remaining 47 were flagged off by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dinesh Shukla.

Basic facilities such as roads, mobile networks, electricity, water and education have expanded in remote and tribal areas, which has increased people's trust in the administration. Through the Gondia Police's community policing initiative, the "Police Dadalora Khidki", employment opportunities and government schemes have reached people at the last mile.

Superintendent of Police Gorakh Bhamre said: "The police force is committed to strengthening the resolve for a Naxal-free, safe and developed Gondia, and to further strengthening the journey of peace and trust in the district."
