Over 9.34 crore farmer families will receive more than Rs 18,680 crore, with Gujarat's share at over Rs 1,051 crore, the state's agriculture minister said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 24th instalment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme tomorrow, October 30, from Bhildi in Gujarat's Banaskantha district. The money will be sent directly to farmers' bank accounts.
More than 9.34 crore farmer families across the country will receive financial assistance of over Rs 18,680 crore under this instalment. Gujarat Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani gave the official details to reporters on Wednesday.
A "PM Kisan Utsav Diwas" programme is to be held at Bhildi. After reviewing the preparations, Vaghani said that in the 24th instalment, more than 52.33 lakh farmer families in Gujarat alone will receive over Rs 1,051 crore.
Under the PM Kisan scheme, eligible farmer families get financial assistance of Rs 6,000 a year. The amount is paid in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each, deposited directly into bank accounts through direct benefit transfer (DBT). So far, more than Rs 4.47 lakh crore has been distributed across the country through 23 instalments.
During the Prime Minister's Gujarat visit, several major farming and animal husbandry projects will also be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid. Mr Modi will lay the foundation stone of two new compressed biogas (CBG) plants that Banas Dairy will build at Tharad and Radhanpur. Once they start, the number of bio-CNG plants under the Banas model will rise to six. The plants will help prevent about 33,400 to 34,600 tonnes of carbon emissions a year.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre (BBBRC), built at a cost of Rs 328.77 crore. Banas Dairy's new potato processing expansion project and an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) at its ultra high temperature (UHT) unit will also be inaugurated.
Mr Modi will be in Gujarat on October 30 and 31. On the second day, he will attend the "Rashtriya Ekta Diwas" (National Unity Day) celebrations at Ekta Nagar (Kevadia) in Narmada district. The event marks the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the country's first Home Minister.
For the celebrations, 34 special programmes at the district level and more than 2,100 at the cluster level have been organised in Gujarat. The main event will be shown live there.
