Two Pune joint sub-registrars get show-cause notices for skipping review meeting
Priya Ghube and Yatin Tawde must reply in writing within two days of receiving the notices, which cite absence from a review meeting.
Two joint sub-registrars of the Registration and Stamps Department in Pune have been issued show-cause notices. They are accused of staying away from a review meeting without reason and of letting official work pile up. The action has been taken against Priya Ghube, joint sub-registrar, Haveli No. 3, and Yatin Tawde, joint sub-registrar, Haveli No. 15. The notices were issued by the Joint District Registrar Class-1 and the Collector of Stamps, Pune city.
The matter relates to a meeting on October 31, 2026. A meeting to review work was scheduled that day at 10 am in the auditorium of the Joint District Registrar Class-1, Pune city office. It was chaired by the Deputy Inspector General of Registration and Deputy Controller of Stamps, Pune division. The officers concerned had been told in advance to bring their monthly statements and be present on time.
Despite this, Ghube did not attend. Senior officials also found that work on the "e-Pramaan" system in her Haveli No. 3 office had been pending since September 3, 2026. Tawde, too, stayed away from the meeting without giving any firm reason. Both officers were therefore directed to give a written explanation.
The notices state that disobeying seniors and being negligent in office work go against office discipline. The officers' conduct is described as a violation of Rule 3 of the Maharashtra Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1979. Both have been asked why disciplinary action should not be taken against them. They must reply within two days of receiving the notice.
Tawde was already in difficulty. An inquiry is under way against him over the registration of documents in violation of the RERA law. The show-cause notice has now added to his troubles.
Rohan Survase Patil, a Nationalist Congress leader in Pune, said on the matter: "Many officers and employees in the city and the state are working arbitrarily, ignoring the rules. Such officers and employees should not merely be suspended but dismissed. The Inspector General of Registration and senior officials of the Revenue Department should take a firm stand in such cases."
