Collector Jitendra Dudi has told officials to speed up land acquisition for six proposed DP roads, with road work due to begin in December 2026.
Pimpri Chinchwad: Land acquisition for six proposed Development Plan (DP) roads in the Hinjewadi-Mann-Maruni area will now move faster. Collector Jitendra Dudi has told officials that the Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) process should be completed within a month. Road work is slated to begin in December 2026.
Dudi gave the directions at a review meeting on Monday. The meeting discussed traffic congestion, poor roads, water supply, civic amenities and other infrastructure in this industrial belt. Officials of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), the Public Works Department (PWD), the police and local bodies were present.
The collector asked all departments to complete tenders and administrative approvals quickly so that infrastructure work can begin in December. He said, "Funds have been sanctioned for stormwater drainage, junction improvement and other infrastructure works in Hinjewadi. Officials have been told to prepare proposals, estimates and tender documents and obtain the necessary approvals."
On the six DP roads, Dudi said officials should obtain the consent of landowners and speed up acquisition. Farmers have agreed to take compensation in the form of Floor Space Index (FSI) for two of the roads. He said acquisition of these two roads should be taken up in the first phase. Separate meetings will be held with landowners for the other four roads.
The chief engineer and land acquisition officers have been told to complete the TDR process in a month. At the next meeting they will also have to present a time-bound schedule for acquisition and the start of work.
The collector also said potholes and road edges on major roads should be repaired within a fixed time, encroachments removed, heavy vehicle movement regulated, and coordination improved among the departments that own the roads.
The meeting also discussed improving last-mile connectivity from metro stations to nearby industrial and residential areas, so that more people use public transport. The roads and transport facilities linking the stations at Baner, Balewadi, and Hinjewadi Phase 2 and Phase 3 were also reviewed.
With power demand rising, Dudi asked officials to begin the process of handing over six acres of land for a new substation to the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL).
The Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) has been asked to draw up a detailed plan for using 2 TMC (thousand million cubic feet) of water for Hinjewadi and surrounding areas. It should detail current supply, available sources and future requirements.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has been directed to enter into agreements with nearby gram panchayats for collecting and scientifically disposing of the villages' garbage. The collector said, "Officials should also survey sites of unauthorised dumping, issue legal notices to those responsible and begin punitive action."
