MHADA's Pune board has given applicants more time to pay the deposit after document-verification glitches; 3,01,586 applications have come in for 4,462 flats.

MHADA has issued an important update for those hoping to own a home in and around Pune. Its Pune board had announced a lottery for 4,462 flats. The lottery has drawn a huge response, with more than 3 lakh applications received so far.

While filling in the online application, some people ran into technical problems with the verification of their documents. To give such applicants relief, MHADA has extended the deadline for paying the earnest money deposit, which gives them a little more time to pay.

Under the extended deadline of MHADA's Pune board, the online deposit was to be paid by Sunday, November 1. For the offline route, that is, paying the amount at a bank, the deadline is 3 pm on Monday, November 2.

The online verification of some applicants' documents had not been completed on time, so their applications were not getting completed. Keeping this in mind, MHADA decided to extend the deadline. It has appealed to applicants who could not pay the earnest money within the stipulated time because of technical problems to make use of the extended period.

The figures show that the Pune board's lottery has received a record response. So far, 3,01,586 applications have been received in all. Of these, 2,45,232 applicants have paid the earnest money. In this way, Rs 505 crore, 2 lakh and 45,984 has been deposited so far. The final figures for applications and deposits will be known once document verification is complete and the applications under the extended deadline have been processed.

As for the homes, the lottery has a total of 4,462 flats under the 15 per cent social housing scheme and the 20 per cent inclusive housing scheme. Of these, 2,971 flats are under the 20 per cent inclusive scheme and 1,491 under the 15 per cent social scheme.

The homes are in different areas in and around Pune. There are 1,468 flats in the Pune Municipal Corporation area, 1,406 in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area and 1,588 in the PMRDA area.

Those who have applied in the lottery should check the status of their applications and make sure document verification has been completed. Whether the earnest money is paid online or offline, applicants must keep in mind the deadline set for that method.

With so many applications, competition has increased. Those whose process was left incomplete because of technical problems have got relief from the extension. Applicants are now watching how many applications there finally are and when the next stage of the lottery begins.
