Mumbai Crime Branch suspects the Rs 5 crore extortion call to actor Tusshar Kapoor was fake after the voice did not match Harry Boxer's audio sample.

The Mumbai Crime Branch suspects that the threatening phone call received by actor Tusshar Kapoor was fake. The caller allegedly claimed to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore, but in the preliminary investigation the police are not convinced by this claim.

The caller had given his name as Harry Boxer. When the police examined the call, they found that the caller's voice does not match the available audio sample of Harry Boxer. This has deepened the investigators' suspicion that the call was not genuine.

After receiving the threatening call, Kapoor filed a complaint with the police. The investigation was then handed over to the Crime Branch's anti-extortion cell. The police suspect that the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and the fear it inspires were used in an attempt to threaten the actor and extort money from him.

During the investigation, the police analysed the voice recording of the threatening call and compared it with the available audio sample of Harry Boxer. The preliminary inquiry found no similarity between the two voices. On this basis, the police have said it is possible that the call was not made by Harry Boxer, and that someone else made the threat using his name.

A senior police officer also said the voice does not match, so the call is suspected to be fake. The police are currently trying to identify the caller. They are also looking into where the threatening call was made from. No FIR has been registered in the case so far.

Meanwhile, the safety of Bollywood actors has come into discussion again. Kapoor received the threat only a few days after the firing incident near actor Tiger Shroff's house in Juhu. The Mumbai Crime Branch is also investigating that firing incident.
