Police to match threat audio in Tiger Shroff attack case with voice banks of three states

Mumbai Crime Branch will compare the voice in a threatening audio clip with samples held by Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan police, including those of Lawrence Bishnoi gang members.

The Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating the attack on Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff. A threatening audio clip surfaced after the attack, and police are now going to examine the voice in it. The voice will be matched against samples recorded in the voice banks of the Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan police. These voice banks also hold voice samples of members linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

According to police sources, identifying the man behind the audio clip is not easy, because different names and voices were used to issue the threat. Delhi Police have more than 200 voice samples linked to the Bishnoi gang. Punjab and Rajasthan police also have similar voice banks. An audio clip of Anil Pandit also surfaced after the attack, and police will examine his voice as well.

Police sources said the same method was used in examining audio clips of threats received by several others, including Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Rohit Shetty and Baba Siddique. Investigating agencies had tried to identify those who issued the threats by matching voice samples. The Bishnoi gang's activities have come to light in Maharashtra, particularly Mumbai, over the past two to three years. Since then, Mumbai Police have been trying to understand the gang's methods and its network. The examination of the Tiger Shroff audio clip is part of the same effort.

Meanwhile, the anti-extortion cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch is questioning the three accused who attacked Tiger Shroff. The cell's office is on LT Marg in the Kalbadevi area of South Mumbai. A total of seven police officers, including Police Inspectors Ajay Sawant and Sunil Pawar, are questioning the accused. The police team is also preparing an application seeking remand of the accused. Details of the items recovered from the three, including mobile phones, bags and SIM cards, are being included in the application.

In the questioning, police are seeking information about the pistol used in the attack and the remaining cartridges. They are trying to find out where the weapons were hidden or thrown on the way when the accused went from Andheri to Borivali after the attack, and then from Borivali to Surat. Police are also examining whether the weapons were thrown into a creek in the sea or hidden somewhere else. Police are also asking the accused about those who supplied the weapons.

The Mumbai Crime Branch is also probing connections with four accused arrested in Delhi. Police want to know how these accused delivered money and weapons to the three attackers. Efforts are also under way to connect the links between the conspiracy to carry out the attack and the contacts among the accused. The anti-extortion cell is also trying to find out who else, besides Kunal, Sumit, Babita and Radha, gave the three attackers logistical support.
