Mumbai Crime Branch has established the alleged motive behind the firing incident linked to Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff. Police officers say the attack was carried out with the intent of extorting money, establishing the gang's dominance and spreading fear among people.
According to the Crime Branch investigation, the accused in the firing are linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Police allege the gang targeted Tiger Shroff to increase its influence, make people afraid and gain financially through extortion. The Crime Branch also said the accused were working as active members of an organised crime syndicate.
Investigators believe the attack was not an isolated incident. In their view, it was part of a calculated criminal conspiracy aimed at financial gain, asserting the gang's clout and spreading terror in society. It is alleged that the accused attacked with illegal and lethal weapons under a pre-planned conspiracy to target the film actor.
The Crime Branch investigation has also found that the alleged conspiracy was run through an inter-state network involving several locations, including Delhi and Mumbai.
Officers had earlier said, "Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating whether the two women arrested in connection with the firing, Babita and Radha, had carried out a recce of the Bandra Bandstand area of Mumbai, where many well-known film personalities, including Salman Khan, live."
A Crime Branch officer said, "The investigation found that both women went to the Bandra Bandstand area after reaching Mumbai. Investigators are now examining the reason for their visit and whether they carried out a recce of the homes of film personalities in that area."
The officer further said the women's movements came to light from examination of their mobile phones and other technical evidence. However, investigators have not yet established whether their visit was linked to any possible plan to target people from the film industry.
The investigation is continuing.
