Mumbai, October 13, 2026: Wockhart Hospitals Mumbai Central has installed the Da Vinci X robotic surgical system. The hospital says the technology will further strengthen its advanced surgical facilities. Patients at Mumbai Central can now benefit from robotic-assisted surgery.

The system includes high-quality 3D visualisation, surgical instruments that can move with wrist-like flexibility, and robotic arms that work under the surgeon's control. With their help, doctors can operate with greater precision through small incisions in complex areas of the body. The robot does not perform surgery on its own; the surgeon remains in control of the system throughout the procedure.

With the right patients selected, robotic-assisted surgery can be performed in various medical fields such as urology, gynaecology, gastrointestinal surgery and thoracic surgery. The technology can prove especially useful in operations that require reaching tight or complex parts of the body and greater precision in handling tissue.

In suitable patients, robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery can offer potential benefits. These include smaller incisions, less blood loss, less pain after surgery and a quicker return to daily activities. However, recovery time can vary depending on the patient's health, the type of surgery and other individual factors.

Dr Virendra Chauhan, Regional Business Head, India, and Group Head, International Business, Wockhardt Hospitals, said: "Robotic-assisted surgery is an important development in the field of minimally invasive surgery. Da Vinci X gives surgeons a clearer view, and they can use instruments with highly flexible movement."

Dr Chauhan added: "It helps in making precise movements in complex surgeries. This technology does not replace the surgeon's skill; rather, it further strengthens their precision and control. Our main aim is to use this technology appropriately for patients who can benefit from minimally invasive surgery."

Zahabiya Khorakiwala, Managing Director, Wockhardt Hospitals, said: "Healthcare has reached a point where technology is playing an increasingly important role in complex treatment. Bringing Da Vinci X to Wockhardt Hospitals Mumbai Central symbolises our commitment to making advanced surgical technology available to patients and our medical teams. Our effort is to give experienced doctors the support of modern technology, create new possibilities in surgery and keep patient care at the centre."

According to the hospital, the Da Vinci X system will further strengthen the advanced surgical facilities and technology-driven healthcare initiatives of Wockhardt Hospitals Mumbai Central. The system is designed to help surgeons operate with greater skill and control, and offers a minimally invasive option in procedures that are medically appropriate.
