A Damini squad has been set up in Wardha district for the protection of women and girls. The squad visits schools, colleges, hostels for girls and women, markets, bus stands, railway stations, tourist spots, private coaching classes and open grounds. It is present at these places in case women and girls need help.

To make it convenient for women and girls and keep their complaints confidential, a new Damini WhatsApp helpline has been started in the district, based on a concept of Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal. All the help provided by the squad is conveyed to women through this helpline. The helpline was inaugurated on August 31, 2026, by District Collector Vanmathi C and Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal.

Since the helpline began, 39 complaints have been registered and all of them have been resolved. The complaints include domestic violence against women, women's safety, senior citizens and other types of complaints.

On September 24, 2026, a call came in on the Damini helpline. After the call, the Damini squad reached the spot, helped the victim and took her, along with her parents, to Ramnagar police station for further action. On the complainant's complaint in the case, a cognisable offence has been registered at Ramnagar police station.

All complaints received on the helpline are taken note of and forwarded to the police station concerned. Cognisable or non-cognisable offences are being registered on the basis of these complaints. Complaints are also followed up.

Residents of Wardha city had called to ask for increased police patrolling in some parts of the city and outside coaching classes. After these calls, the Damini squad and police personnel of the police stations concerned are patrolling those places more effectively.

All school and college students in Wardha district have been urged to use the Damini WhatsApp helpline number 7620520025 in times of distress. Assistant Police Inspector Madhuri Waghade, head of the Bharosa Cell and Damini squad, said that anyone who does not feel safe anywhere should send a WhatsApp message to the helpline with detailed information so that help can be provided.
