Wardha SP bans noise pollution and laser lights during festival season
Wardha's Superintendent of Police has ordered curbs on noise pollution for a month, and a separate order bars laser lights, ahead of Ganesh, Navratri and other festivals.
Wardha district will see Hadpakya (Maskarya) Ganpati, Ghatasthapana, Navratri, Urs, Sandal and the festivals of all other faiths in the coming days. Several religious, cultural and public events will be held and processions will be taken out. With this in view, Wardha Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal has issued an order to prevent noise pollution, to maintain public peace and to protect people's health and safety.
The order has been issued under Sections 36 and 38(1) of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, within the limits of Wardha district. It will remain in force in all police station areas of the district from 00.01 am on September 20, 2026 to midnight on October 19, 2026.
The use of laser lights is separately barred. The District Magistrate, Wardha, has prohibited their use under Section 163 of the BNSS 2023. That order is in force from September 29, 2026 to October 28, 2026.
Organisers will have to strictly follow the ban on laser lights and the noise limits and restrictions. They have been asked to ensure that loudspeakers do not disturb public peace or affect people's safety and health.
On receiving a complaint of noise pollution, or on learning of a violation, the police officer concerned will visit the spot immediately, investigate and take the necessary action under the law. Organisers who breach permission conditions or noise rules will face action under the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951 and other applicable laws and rules.
Organisers who repeatedly violate the rules will have their permission cancelled and their sound-producing equipment seized, besides other legal action. Anyone violating the order will face action under Sections 134 and 136 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951 and other applicable laws. Loudspeaker equipment will also be seized as per law. Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal said the police would take strict action against violations of the laser light ban.
The Wardha district police administration has appealed to all festival committees, religious bodies, festival organisers, loudspeaker operators and citizens to follow the order strictly and to celebrate the festivals peacefully, in a disciplined manner and free of noise pollution.
