Wardha police warn DJ and loudspeaker operators of strict action ahead of Navratri

Police told DJ and sound system owners in Wardha to follow noise rules and court orders, warning of stern legal action against violators.

Ahead of the coming Navratri festival and other festivals and religious events, a meeting was held of operators and owners of loudspeakers, amplifiers, DJs and other sound-producing equipment in Wardha district. The aim was to maintain law and order and prevent noise pollution in the district.

The meeting was held at 12 noon on Monday, October 12, 2026, at the office of the Superintendent of Police, Wardha. It was chaired by Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Pramod Makeshwar and Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Wardha, Sunil Mahadik were present. Station house officers of Wardha city, Sevagram, Ramnagar and Sawangi police stations, the inspector of the Local Crime Branch, the assistant inspector of the District Special Branch, and DJ and loudspeaker operators and owners from the district also attended.

At an earlier meeting on September 5, 2026, chaired by Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal, the problems of DJ and loudspeaker operators and owners were heard and resolved. Even so, two cases of noise pollution were registered within the limits of Hinganghat police station during Ganeshotsav.

For this reason, the meeting made it clear that the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, and the orders of the Supreme Court and the High Court must be followed. The District Magistrate, Wardha's order of September 17, 2026, on compliance with noise pollution rules and a ban on laser lights also remains in force. The order of September 19, 2026, under Sections 36 and 38(1) of the Maharashtra Police Act, and orders issued by the government from time to time, must also be strictly followed.

The DJ and loudspeaker operators and owners were given the following instructions:

1. Use loudspeakers only within the prescribed noise limit and during the hours set by the government.

2. Do not operate loudspeakers without the required permission from the competent authorities.

3. Take particular care near silence zones, hospitals, educational institutions, courts and other sensitive places.

4. Do not install additional or non-compliant sound systems to increase volume.

5. When mounting loudspeakers and other equipment on vehicles, ensure that the safety of the vehicle is not compromised.

6. Do not use DJs, loudspeakers or similar equipment in a way that causes inconvenience to citizens or raises a law-and-order issue.

7. Strictly follow the rules on noise pollution, court directions and administrative orders.

The meeting gave a clear warning that strict legal action will be taken against violators under the existing law.

Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal, the Wardha district police administration has appealed to citizens, festival committees and DJ and loudspeaker operators and owners to cooperate with the police so that all festivals are celebrated in an atmosphere of peace, enthusiasm and discipline. According to the police administration, keeping noise pollution in check is a collective responsibility, so everyone should follow the rules with the health, peace and safety of citizens in mind.
