VLF launches Strada electric scooter at Rs 1.20 lakh for City and Rs 1.55 lakh for Max

VLF has entered the electric scooter market with the Strada. VLF India has launched the new scooter in India in two variants, City and Max. The City variant is priced at Rs 1.20 lakh and the Max variant at Rs 1.55 lakh.
According to the company's claim, the scooter with the larger battery can deliver a range of up to 250 km on a single charge. It could be a new option for customers considering an electric scooter.
On battery and range, the City variant has a 2.16 kWh battery, and the company claims an IDC range of up to 130 km. The Max variant gets a 4.32 kWh battery with a claimed IDC range of up to 250 km. The scooter also offers a swappable battery.
On charging, the company has cited a time of under two hours in a special setup. However, going by the specifications of the charger supplied, charging could take about six hours. The actual charging time will thus depend on the battery and charger configuration.
The scooter has a BLDC hub motor that delivers a peak power of 4.8 kW and a peak torque of 34 Nm. It has three riding modes: Eco, City and Sport. The top speed is 45 kmph in Eco mode, 65 kmph in City mode and 85 kmph in Sport mode. The rider can choose a mode according to road conditions and the needs of the journey.
The design includes a dual-beam projector LED headlamp, integrated turn indicators, a tall windscreen and a two-part seat. There is also an integrated luggage rack at the rear. The seat height is 780 mm. Features include a 5-inch TFT display, keyless entry, illuminated ignition and USB Type-A and Type-C charging ports.
For braking, the scooter has a 240 mm disc and a 3-piston caliper at the front, and a 220 mm disc and a 2-piston caliper at the rear. It gets a 16-inch front wheel and a 14-inch rear wheel, with a CBS braking system.
The scooter will be available in four colours: Carbonio Black, Urbano Silver, Titanio Grey and Luna White. In the market, it will compete with the Yamaha EC-06 and the Suzuki E-Access. Buyers should check the actual range, charging time and battery warranty details before purchase.
