Congress leader Vijay Vadettiwar from Nagpur has once again targeted the state government over the farmers' issue. He said the government should not wait for October 5, as farmers need help right now, immediately. Vadettiwar also questioned the relief GR issued by the government.

According to Vadettiwar, merely making an announcement on paper will not ease farmers' distress. He said farmers should get adequate financial help without any delay. He demanded that the government provide assistance of Rs 1 lakh per hectare so farmers can recover their losses.

Vadettiwar was sharply critical of the government's relief system, calling it a patchwork arrangement. He said paperwork or announcements alone will not work, and that money must go directly into the bank accounts of farmers who have suffered losses. He said clearly that farmers should get direct financial help in proportion to their losses, not through some formality.

This is not the first time Vadettiwar has raised this issue. He has previously demanded per-hectare financial assistance for farmers, loan waivers, and the start of work under the employment guarantee scheme. On September 23, 2026, he had demanded that farmers be given at least Rs 50,000 per hectare in assistance. He had also demanded a waiver of peak loans and other outstanding loans, along with large-scale employment guarantee works for agricultural labourers.

Vadettiwar appealed to the government to speed up the relief process given the current condition of farmers. According to him, direct assistance is the only way to pull farmers hit by natural calamity and crop losses out of financial distress.

Different political parties have been raising their own demands on the issue of compensating farmers. Meanwhile, the government is said to be continuing relief work for affected farmers as per fixed norms and assistance amounts.
