Triumph has unveiled its new 2027 Tiger 1200 in the premium touring motorcycle segment. The bike will be launched in India from March 2027 in two variants, the GT Pro and the Rally Explorer. The new model gets changes to the engine, suspension, rider safety and electronics. The company has also introduced new technology to reduce seat height.
The bike has a 1,200 cc T-plane three-cylinder engine, which produces 158 PS at 9,250 rpm, 8 PS more than the previous model. Changes to the cylinder head, pistons, valves and camshafts focus on improving torque response at low engine speeds. The ratios of the first three gears have also been changed. To make the bike easier to ride at low speeds, the crawl speed has been reduced by 6 km/h. The bike has a six-speed gearbox and shaft drive.
The new Tiger 1200 has Showa EERA HeightFlex semi-active suspension. After the bike comes to a halt, the system lowers the seat height by 30 mm, and the seat returns to normal height once the journey begins. The two-position seat allows a further 20 mm adjustment, while an optional low seat lowers the height by another 20 mm. With this, the seat height at standstill can be brought down to 790 mm. A centre stand assist reduces the effort needed to put the bike on its stand.
For safety, the new model has Bosch radar systems at the front and rear. These provide features such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot assist, forward collision warning, emergency brake assist and rear distance warning. The 7-inch touchscreen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The fuel tank has a waterproof compartment for a phone, with USB-C charging and an automatic fan to keep the phone cool.
The two variants differ in some respects. The GT Pro has a 20-litre fuel tank and cast aluminium wheels. The Rally Explorer has a 30-litre fuel tank, an Off-Road Pro mode, a tyre pressure monitoring system and parts offering greater protection. Both variants have 200 mm of suspension travel, Brembo Stylema brakes, heated seats for the rider and pillion, and three-stage heated grips. The new LED headlamp provides additional light while the bike is turning. Prices in India are expected to be announced at launch.
