Retired professor Chandrashekhar Dahikar bludgeoned to death with bricks in Gondia's Bothli village

A retired professor was brutally killed with bricks by unidentified assailants in the farm area of Bothli village, under Amgaon police station limits in Gondia district. The body of Chandrashekhar Dahikar, a former lecturer, was found drenched in blood in front of his house on the farm, leaving the whole of Bothli village in fear.

According to available information, Dahikar lived alone in a house he had built in the farm area of Bothli on the Thanatola-Jawri road. He ran a poultry farming business from the house. Unidentified people reached his farmhouse at night and suddenly attacked him. The assailants struck his head and body repeatedly with bricks, and Dahikar died on the spot of the severe injuries.

In the morning, a farmer going to work as usual in a neighbouring field saw Dahikar's body lying in a pool of blood on forest department land in front of his house. Shaken by the sight, the farmer immediately contacted the sarpanch of the Bothli gram panchayat and informed him of the incident. The sarpanch promptly alerted Amgaon police.

On receiving the information, senior officers of Amgaon police station reached the spot with their team. Police prepared a panchnama and sent the body for post-mortem. They are looking into whether the killing was the result of an old enmity, was committed with theft in mind, or had some other motive.

Deep grief is being expressed in the area over the killing of the former professor, who lived alone. Tracing the unidentified attackers and arresting them at the earliest has become a major challenge for Amgaon police. There is no information of any arrest so far, and the investigation is continuing.
