If you are planning to make something new and tasty at home this weekend, a paneer wrap is a good option. It is a perfect recipe for snacks and children like it a lot. The wrap can be served to children in place of chapati and vegetables.
The paneer wrap is a street food and is easily found in the market. People eat it with great relish. But market wraps use a chapati made of refined flour (maida) and the quality of the ingredients is not as good. Making a tasty, healthy and hygienic street-style paneer wrap at home is therefore a good idea. It can also be made from leftover stale chapatis.
First, the ingredients. You will need 150 grams of paneer, cut into small pieces. Along with it you need 2-3 wheat rotis or chapatis, one onion (sliced lengthwise or finely chopped), one finely chopped tomato and half a capsicum cut into long, thin strips. Also needed are 2 teaspoons of oil or butter, 1 teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste, half a teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon of red chilli powder and 1 teaspoon of coriander-cumin powder. Keep chaat masala, mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, green mint chutney and salt to taste ready as well.
Now the method. Heat oil or ghee in a pan and saute the ginger-garlic paste. After about a minute, add the chopped onion, capsicum and tomato and lightly saute the vegetables. Then add turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander-cumin powder and salt and mix everything well.
Once the spices are well cooked, add the paneer pieces and sprinkle a little chaat masala on top. Cover with a lid and let it cook for two minutes. Then switch off the gas and let the paneer stuffing cool.
Now spread tomato ketchup, green chutney or mayonnaise evenly on a chapati. Place the paneer stuffing on top. Take care to place the stuffing towards one corner of the chapati. If you like, you can add cheese on top as well.
Then roll the chapati neatly. Put butter on a pan over the gas and toast the wrap on it well. When the aroma comes and the chapati turns lightly crisp on the outside, your paneer wrap is ready.
