Two Ertiga cars collided head-on near Bhavani Tek (Rajemane's field) on the Mhaswad-Shingnapur road in Maan taluka at around 4 pm on Sunday, October 11. The impact was very strong, and six people travelling in the two cars were injured. Both vehicles were badly damaged. The accident took place on the road that links Mhaswad with Shingnapur.

According to the information available, one of the two Ertiga cars belongs to Banawasti in Warkute-Mhaswad, while the other is said to be from Pilive in Malshiras taluka. The two cars were thus from different villages. Their registration numbers are MH 45 AZ 4052 and MH 04 LY 5388.

Mahesh Tanaji Chavan (28), his mother Sunanda Tanaji Chavan (47), his wife Sayali Mahesh Chavan (24) and Gauri Dada Jadhav (22), who were travelling in the car from Banawasti in Warkute, were injured. Samadhan Kharat, who was in the Pilive car, was also hurt. The name of the sixth injured person is not yet known.

Local residents say there is a small bend at Bhavani Tek on the Mhaswad-Shingnapur road, with a hill beside it, so an oncoming vehicle cannot be seen in time. They allege that the accident happened because of the poor design of the road.

A similar accident is said to have occurred earlier at Wadjal on the Mhaswad-Mayani road. There is therefore a demand that the Public Works Department inspect these dangerous spots at once and take the necessary measures.

After the accident, the question being asked is whether the administration will now wake up. Citizens are demanding that information boards, speed limit signs and other essential road safety measures be put up immediately at the dangerous bend at Bhavani Tek. People say the department concerned needs to attend to this serious problem before a major fatal accident occurs.
