State Bank of India will suspend its UPI service from 12:15 am to 12:40 am on Friday, October 30, for technical maintenance, while UPI Lite stays on.
Customers holding accounts with the State Bank of India (SBI) will need to plan ahead on the night of October 30. The bank has decided to keep its UPI service switched off for a short period.
The reason is technical maintenance. The bank says such upkeep keeps its systems running smoothly, and updates make the service stronger and easier to use. SBI is carrying out the work so that customers face no interruptions later.
The bank has announced the downtime in advance. The date is Friday, October 30, 2026, and the service will be off from 12:15 am to 12:40 am, a total of 25 minutes.
No transaction will be possible through SBI's UPI during this window. Whichever app a customer uses, be it Google Pay, PhonePe or BHIM, sending or requesting money from an SBI account will not work. The bank says the service may resume before 12:40 am if the technical work is completed early.
Even while the main UPI service is down, the bank has kept UPI Lite running. Customers who already hold money in their UPI Lite wallet will be able to make small transactions during this time. Keeping some balance in the Lite wallet beforehand would help avoid trouble at night.
Customers are advised to complete essential transactions before 12:15 am and to carry some cash if they are travelling or away from home at night. If a transaction fails during this period, they should not panic or repeatedly try to send the money again.
